What are the differences between VisionGS BE and VisionGS PE?

"Business Edition" (BE) does not mean that only commercial companies should operate with this edition.

The Business Edition (VisionGS BE) is designed for both - personal and business usage. You should obtain VisionGS BE for your private usage as well if you would like to work without the limitations of the Private Edition (VisionGS PE).

You may click here for a side-by-side comparison table.

what is the maximum image format / resolution VisionGS can capture?

VisionGS does not have any restrictions regarding video format / maximum resolution. this is fully video-driver dependend. To change your current video format in VisionGS you may go to "Device Settings -> Video Device -> Format". The dialog which will popup is not produced by VisionGS, it is created by your video-driver.

Please note that "Window Size" under "Device Settings -> Video Device" has nothing to do with video format - it is just the dimension of the preview window. You may also have a look at the help file shipped with VisionGS for more information regarding this topic.

The ftp log shows me an error, what should I do?

If the log comes up with this error:

  • "FTP: Error for CWD. No such file or directory"
you have set a wrong directory within the ftp account settings of VisionGS. since v1.40 the program helps you with error tracing and should give you the following hint within the log a few lines below the error:

"FTP: Hint for error tracing: You are in directory: "/home/rob2"

where "/home/rob2" is the ftp directory you should enter in the ftp account settings of VisionGS.
  • "FTP: 500 Host not found (Winsock error
    #11001)"

if you are behind a firewall/proxy/router you should activate "[ ] Use passive transfer" and "[ ] Resolve hostname before uploading" (available since v1.40) in the ftp server settings of VisionGS. otherwise check if the hostname/address to your ftp server is spelled correctly (ftp account settings of VisionGS.
  • "FTP: Unable to establish data connection, error #10061"
you are behind a firewall/proxy/router and should activate "[ ] Use passive transfer" in the ftp server settings of VisionGS.
  • "FTP: 553 Permission denied."
or "FTP: 553 cam.jpg: Permission denied."
you have set a wrong directory in the ftp account settings of VisionGS (= you are not allowed to store files in the directory).

What is your upgrade policy?

Please check this page for detailed information.

How can I export the settings of VisionGS?

Just go to "Start-> Run" and enter "regedit.exe". From there browse to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VisionGS" and go to the Menu entry "File->Export". Export the settings as "Win9x/NT4..." file. You can double-click on this file later (e.g. on a different computer) to import the settings.

I have a Bt8xx Capture Card but the drivers are outdated or do not work adequately?

If you are unhappy with the driver for your Bt848, Bt849, Bt878 and Bt879 (most TV / capture cards use one of this chipset) capture card you may download an alternate driver from http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/

When viewing the live stream the it takes a while until I can see the video (~ 8-10sec)?

The delay is not caused by VisionGS - the delay is caused by the Windows Media Player which is pre-buffering the stream so it can be displayed without any interruption. You may change the buffering preferences on Windows Media Player to less buffering time under "Tools -> Options -> Performance" (but we do not recommend this).

When trying to send an email I'm always getting an error?

Please check if the settings at "Program Settings -> Email" are correct. If the error is "AUTH Command is not enabled" or "Command is locally disabled" please change the authentication method at "Program Settings -> Email -> Authentication" as your email server does not supported the authentication method you have selected.

Does VisionGS contain any Spyware?

Definitely not. The privacy of our customers is well respected. You may run a packet sniffer to check this.

Is it possible to shutdown VisionGS by command line (for in use with Cron etc.)?

Yes, since v1.51 (Business Edition). To shutdown VisionGS by cmd line, just use the parameters "-s" or "-s -f".

  • visiongs.exe -s
The application will shutdown normally. There is a safety-timeout if an error or any other unforeseen event comes up when closing the application. After this timeout (120 seconds) the shutdown will be forced.

  • visiongs.exe -s -f
The application will shutdown immediately (forced) without waiting for a process to finish.

How can I use my Network IP camera together with Skype, Flash Media Encoder etc.?

You can use your Network IP camera in connection with the unique IP Camera Localizer together with Skype, Flash Media Encoder etc.
